Much has been happening, and this blog has been pretty quiet. That is because your humble correspondent is on the way to a higher tax bracket this year.
Speaking of mixed blessings, Facepalm Feinstein has issued two email communiques in the last two weeks, that makes four since March, which is four since forever. Seems that the Donks are feeling the need to shore up their base. They remain committed to the same designed to fail policies as ever, and fear that their Mindless Minions (TM) might be getting discouraged. Thanks Di, for the encouraging word.
Republicans can’t be all that happy either, as whatever they are doing in Congress is what they do best: betray the voters that sent them. At least half a dozen time they sent a Repeal Obamacare bill to President Bizarro #0’s desk knowing full well that it would be vetoed, but don’t seem to be able to muster the spine to send one to President Trump, presumably because they fear it might be signed into law. Having won both houses of Congress and the Presidency the Keystone Congress Critters are like the dog that caught the car, now they can’t figure out what to do with it.
So why are the Donks in such a tizzy when their nominal opposition party is in disarray? There are a few things, which I find extremely heartening.
First, most of their top leadership is old. Feinstein is 84, Nancy “Where Am I?” Pelosi 77, Judy Chu 63, Chuck “The Putz” Schumer 66, “Crazy Uncle” Bernie Sanders 75, Hillary “The Hag” Clinton 69. There are some younger ones, but they aren’t that young, such as Kamala “Commie” Harris 52, Adam “Which Way Did He Go?” Schiff 57, Xavier “El Bato” Becerra 59. Barbara “Call Me Senator” Boxer didn’t relinquish power till she was 77. And that’s the problem right there, lust for power. Because once they get it rather than grooming their successors they cling to it. A sane party would see people in their 30’s and 40’s getting set to take the reins.
Second, the Dems have put most of their eggs in the top tier baskets. Which is why they hold majorities in so few state and local legislative bodies, or governorships, or mayoralities. They have concentrated so much on the Federal level that they’ve ceded vast tracts of the electoral landscape to Republicans. Determined to seize and hold power at the top they have abandoned their base, and the base noticed.
Finally, the Geritol & Depends Party is losing the youth. Given that they virtually control the educational machinery of the nation this has been a nasty surprise for them. Many young people have been very unhappy with what the Progressive agenda has done to them and how it has ravaged their current situation and their prospects for the future. Not only are they unhappy, they are getting vocal about it, despite the Dark Temple’s best efforts to anathematize and silence them. Consider a few of the younger voices making themselves heard today:
What these platforms have in common is thoughtful and principled opposition to the Democratic, Progressive, Marxist agenda. They are fresh, passionate and persuasive; the Donks and their fellow travellers hate them, but they just can’t find a way to shut them up. And these are just a few of the many that are out there, and their numbers are growing.
The spirit of 1776 lives on. Happy 4th of July.
