Question: are we reviving the club?
The last communication from Tom Pass…. I thought was that we were not having any more meetings? What changed?
Back in December Tom resigned as President of the Club. Attendance was down and we were losing money on the monthly dinner talks every time. We had had a great deal of difficulty finding and retaining officers for the club. For several months there were only three of us at the monthly board meetings (full complement is supposed to be 8). Tom was doing 90% of the work and he just couldn’t keep that up. The two of us accepted Tom’s resignation, then the other officer resigned as well. Tom and the other officer wanted to disband the club entirely, but I refused to tender my resignation or lay the club to rest. I believed then and believe now that the Republican Party alone espouses the principles that can save California and the Nation from sliding right into full blown Socialism. I felt and feel still that it would be a strategic error to shut the club down, especially in the era of Trump.
So as the last remaining club officer I maintained the web page and held on with the intention of getting this club on its feet again. It will have to change because clearly the old model was not working. How it changes and if it survives will be up to Republicans in the Foothills area. I am making a best guess as to a framework that might work. The American people need what we have to offer, and we are derelict in our duty if we simply lay down and die. I say, if we’re gonna die, lets die on our feet, spitting defiance at all who would pull us down. They may well pull us down, but by the Lord Harry I intend to make them work for it.
Hope this answers your question.
