Future revolution today

On Thursday, January 10, 1963 Rep. A.S. Herlong, Jr. of Florida caused to be read into the Congressional record the 45 goals of Communism as outlined in “The Naked Communist” by Cleon Skousen.  The goals are all horrible, but what is truly shocking is how completely they have been implemented in our own day.  Skousen published his book in 1958, almost 60 years ago.  They, the Communists, never lost their focus on their goals, pursued them relentlessly and have been terrifyingly successful.

I have frequently heard it said that the Republican Party ought not concern itself with questions of social ethics and morality.  Rather, we should be focused on fiscal, economic and the size and functions of government.  The Communists agree.  The moral and spiritual degradation of America has always been a major goal, and an unacknowledged hot front in the cold war.  A war, let it be noted, which has raged unseen for over 60 years.  Why is this important to them?

Karl Marx was not only a lunatic but a pervert.  While the world has focussed on his mystical economics this was by no means the whole of his program.  He advocated easy divorce, extramarital promiscuity, homosexuality, abortion and state run orphanages for raising children which were to be separated from their biological parents.  He thought that if the family, along with religion, were abolished the primal loyalty of individuals to their families would be broken and could be attached to the State.  Following the October Revolution Lenin implemented all these “freedoms” all across Soviet society.

Within just a few years they were all reversed.  These policies did not reattach the individual’s loyalty to the State, but was rapidly reducing Russian society to unmanageable chaos.  The Socialist paradise was turning into a rootless, promiscuous hell.  Once these policies were discarded Russian society was able to knit itself together, still wounded, but sufficiently functional to maintain social cohesion.

Part of the theory behind the cultural warfare waged by the Soviet Union against the West was simply this: if we persuade the West to implement those policies which nearly brought our society down their societies will collapse too.  Then they will be ripe for takeover.

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents
Now consider the beginnings of the National Organization for Women as told by an eye-witness, Mallory Millet at Front Page Magazine.

It was 1969. Kate invited me to join her for a gathering at the home of her friend, Lila Karp. They called the assemblage a “consciousness-raising-group,” a typical communist exercise, something practiced in Maoist China.  We gathered at a large table as the chairperson opened the meeting with a back-and-forth recitation, like a Litany, a type of prayer done in Catholic Church. But now it was Marxism, the Church of the Left, mimicking religious practice:

“Why are we here today?” she asked.
“To make revolution,” they answered.
“What kind of revolution?” she replied.
“The Cultural Revolution,” they chanted.
“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?” she demanded.
“By destroying the American family!” they answered.
“How do we destroy the family?” she came back.
“By destroying the American Patriarch,” they cried exuberantly.
“And how do we destroy the American Patriarch?” she replied.
“By taking away his power!”
“How do we do that?”
“By destroying monogamy!” they shouted.
“How can we destroy monogamy?”

Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears.  Was I on planet earth?  Who were these people?

“By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!” they resounded.

Social issues matter.  As Republicans and conservatives we cannot let these issues slide, imagining them to be peripheral to the “important stuff” like taxation, budgets and foreign policy.  Time was short 30 years ago, but we weren’t paying attention.  Dodging the Hillary bullet is just the beginning.

Lafayette, where are you?

Back in 1917 when Col. Charles E. Stanton said, “Lafayette, we are here,” he was paying respect to a debt that the United States owed to France personified by the Marquis de Lafayette who led France’s aid to the nascent United States in her struggle for existence during America’s Revolutionary War.  The idea being that America would save France as France had saved the fledgeling United states a little over a century before.

American Doughboys did indeed save France and England from the Kaiser’s ham-fisted attempt to dominate Europe, breaking the stalemate that seemed would doom Europe to endless blood-letting.  Few today can imaging the cost in blood of that war.  Fully one quarter of the French male population between the ages of 18 to 60 became casualties between 1914 and 1918.  England, Belgium, Germany, Russia and Austria-Hungary suffered similar casualty rates.  Such casualty rates defy comprehension, it was the horror of the magnitude of the slaughter that made England and France so reluctant to embark on the War to end War’s second act a mere generation later.

Emperor Karl I

America’s arrival convinced the German General Staff that that they needed to do something NOW to even the odds.  Their solution was to send V.I Lenin to Russia to knock Russia out of the war and free up troops from that second front.  This move was opposed by the newly crowd emperor of Austria-Hungary, Karl I.  Two things rendered Karl’s objections moot: 1. he had two million Germans under arms on his territory; 2. President Wilson’s refusal to countenance any form of separate peace.  Another instance in which electing a Democratic President had disastrous consequences.  Funny how so many of them start wars, then blame the Republicans.

It did not take long for Europe to decide that the only way to expiate the blood shed during the Great War was to shed lots more blood.  So off to war they went again, led, again, by a vengeful Germany.  And once again it fell to America to save the day.  First by arming and feeding Russia, then by kicking Nazi butt.  When it turned out that arming Russia had not been such a great idea, America saved Europe a third time by guaranteeing Western Europe’s survival in the event of a Russian invasion.

Now it looks as if Europe is self destructing again, this time by facilitating a hostile Muslim invasion.  After years of terror attacks, assaults, rapes and general mayhem some in Europe are beginning to wake up.  Not all, by any means, substantial numbers of Europeans still embrace their own destruction.  Perhaps more will wake up as the situation spirals into Jihad hell.  But will enough wake up?  Not enough were awake in Holland last month.  Next up is France, who in a handful of hours will have national elections.  (As an aside, one wonders what role the Russians will be seen to have.)

The likelihood that the US will step up to once again save Europe from itself is negligible.  This time they will have to do it on their own.  Hungary and Poland seem to have seen and refused the poison of massive Muslim immigration, and that’s really good.  In a few hours the French will hold national elections to decide whether France will live or die.  Choose wisely, Lafayette, three strikes and you’re out.  This time you are on your own with no second chance in sight.

Re-becoming America

Trump, thank the merciful heavens, is President now, and has begun the process of dismantling the Marxist legacy of his predecessor.  It won’t be easy not least because of the demented intransigence of the lunatic Left.  Also, so many of the Republicans in Congress either never knew or have forgotten how to fight for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and the General Welfare.

A successful restoration of America will not happen if the American people, that’s We the People, you and me, sit back and depend on our President and elected Representatives to get the job done.  If we sit back we’ll be sliding back into totalitarianism in short order, guaranteed.

Joel D. Hirst, over at his eponymous blog, frames the problem in terms of rights:

Rights are only protected through their use. Just as a muscle grows strong from labor; or a mind becomes sharp through study – so our rights are only strengthened as we exercise them. Freedom dies not in an epic explosion of violence, an assault against those who defend her, but instead with a shrug as the lazy stop caring and wander off. Free societies, we forget, are a luxury; made of free people unsupervised by a sovereign or a big brother, interacting with each other in our perfect spontaneous order which has led to great prosperity product of those liberties.

America only becomes America, and Americans Americans, by daily exercising our God given rights and duties.  To paraphrase the Gospel, “Take up your rights and duties daily and follow Me.”  We nearly fell completely into disaster; we still hover on the brink; precisely because we failed to do just exactly that.

Over the last three generations we have gradually allowed ourselves to become silent and paralyzed.  Speaking out became uncomfortable, standing up became not worth the effort.  By slow degrees we were boxed in not so much because the Left was so strong but because we were so weak.  We traded liberty for peace.

Look where it got us; look where it nearly got us.

Typically, we didn’t wake up until the crisis was upon us, but we did wake up, and we made changes.  We have begun.  But the changes we have made at the ballot box will not last unless we make changes to ourselves, to our ways of thinking; our willingness to exercise out liberties and to our ways of acting; our willingness to exercise our civic authority which is a duty seldom spoken of these days.

We need to re-learn what our forefathers knew and we have forgotten.

There is no better training in the exercise of civic authority than the five part course offered by the Center of Self Governance.  In addition to their five part course they have all kinds of interesting things going on.  I strongly suggest that you, yes, YOU! get signed up with them, pick an area of interest and start acting like a real American.

Baseball – eternal and triumphant

From Gerard Vanderleun’s American Digest:

“I got it!” “No, I got it!” “No, we got it!”

“The New York Yankees’ Nick Swisher climbed a wall to try and catch a ball in Game 1 of the 2009 World Series…” (via Photo Journal – WSJ )As long as we have Opening Day every Spring and the World Series every Autumn, I will continue to believe to the adamantine rock bottom of my soul that God blesses America and has an exceptional plan for this nation.

Look at the moment above captured in Game 1 of the 2009 World Series. It could be hung in the Norman Rockwell Museum and not be a tittle of a jot out of place. In every face (except Swisher’s) is an expression of pure joy as they all realize that on its way to them, at that very moment, is every baseball fan’s most cherished dream from childhood: The chance to catch a fly ball in a World Series game in the stands.

In another few instants only one fan will come up with it, but in this moment all have a chance at it and all are transported at the opportunity to transcend themselves and enter into something bigger, brighter, and finer than their lives would otherwise be.

And that’s the way it is in America. That’s why we see many footprints leading in and few coming out. For with all our quarrels, our disagreements, our struggles, and our incessant bickering, this remains a land where you can always get another turn at bat, where you can always, right up until six months after death, get another chance to swing for the bleachers. And where, even if you aren’t a player in “The Show,” you can buy a seat out on the right field line and wait there for the crack of the bat, the rise of the ball against the sky, and… it’s coming, it’s coming…. and whap, you got it. You’re in “The Show.”

And in that moment life, the universe, and everything else comes down to one great roar of joy from yourself and the rest of the crowd.

Baseball, from a hot grounder on Opening Day to the World Series and a high fly ball in an Autumn sky is the arc of the essential America. Nothing else like them ever was. “I got it!” “No, I got it!” “No, we got it!”

Damn, but it’s good to be an American!

Pretence of reasonableness

Chuckie the Clown Schumer was trying to pretend to be reasonable.  It was, of course, just for laughs.

Schumer said, “Let me make a proposal here to maybe break this problem that we have, okay? It looks like Gorsuch will not reach the 60-vote margin. So instead of changing the rules, which is up to Mitch McConnell and the Republican majority, why doesn’t President Trump, Democrats, and Republicans in the Senate, sit down, and try to come up with a mainstream nominee? Look, when a nominee doesn’t get 60 votes, you shouldn’t change the rules, you should change the nominee. And let’s just take, give me one minute here, because this is important, let’s just look at the history, okay?”

Democrat flim-flam kit.

Seriously, Chuckie?  Naw.  He’s just trying to blow smoke up Republicans’ derrieres. By now we should all know that when the Democrats generously give Republicans good tactical advice they are completely out of steam and their only hope is to trick the good guys into making an error.  Sadly, Republicans all too often fall for it.  Elephants really do have excellent memories, not so the GOP.

The first thing Schumer says is, “It looks like Gorsuch will not reach the 60-vote margin.”  Chuckie, old bean, old boy, if he doesn’t have the 60 vote margin why are you and your Donks fighting to prevent a vote?  If he didn’t have the votes you’d hold the vote, the GOP would fail and you’d win.

But no, you’re gonna try and fillibuster.  There’s only one reason you’d do that: you know damned good and well that if the vote were held you would lose.  And your plan to stack the court with Lefties would be set back a few years.  But you don’t want to wait because right up to dinner time on November 8, 2016 you thought you had finally sunk your collectivist teeth into the chalupa of national power, only to have that Trump fella run off with *your* chalupa.

To quote the previous occupier of the White House, “Elections have consequences.”  Remember that?  You lie, Chuckie.  The Republicans have the votes.  Sucks to be a Democrat these days.  Sucks to be you.

Oh, but wait, Chuckie the Clown has a bright idea! “… why doesn’t President Trump, Democrats, and Republicans in the Senate, sit down, and try to come up with a mainstream nominee?”  Translated that reads, “Why don’t you let us help you pick a nice radical leftist nominee who can continue to frog march America into a Socialist totalitarian police state by judicial fiat?”

What a clever little Clown you are, Chuckie!

Above all, Chuckie says, “… when a nominee doesn’t get 60 votes, you shouldn’t change the rules, you should change the nominee.”  Don’t change the rules because that is exactly what we did, and boy are we sorry about it now.  And sure, as soon as we get back in power we’ll change the rules any way we like just like we always do.  But you, honest, upstanding, patriotic Republicans shouldn’t change the rules.  Oh, no, no, no!  That would be wrong!

(So please, God, even though I don’t believe in You, let the Party of Stupid not change the rules.)  So much for Chuckie the Clown’s prayer.

But your humble correspondent doesn’t think the GOP will quit on Gorsuch.  My money says Trump won’t let them.  The Gorsuch nomination is a point of honor for the President, keeping one of the key pledges he made that won him the election.  This is not a loser for Trump, and Trump likes to win.

It would help if ordinary citizens like you and me were to burn up the wires to DC and stiffen some of those GOP spines.  No use talking to our un-representatives, sad to say.  But it wouldn’t hurt to let them know that we know their ascendancy is at an end.
