Obama’s EEOC: We’ll Sue You If You Don’t Hire Criminals

The Obama administration’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says it should be a federal crime to refuse to hire ex-convicts — and threatens to sue businesses that don’t employ criminals.
In April the EEOC unveiled its “Enforcement Guidance on the Consideration of Arrest and Conviction Records,” which declares that “criminal record exclusions have a disparate impact based on race and national origin.”

The impetus for this “guidance” is that black men are nearly seven times more likely than white men to serve time in prison, and therefore refusals to hire convicts disproportionally impact blacks, according to a Wall Street Journal opinion piece by James Bovard, a libertarian author and lecturer whose books include “Freedom in Chains: The Rise of the State  and the Demise of the Citizen.”

Richard Riordan endorses Kevin James in L.A. mayor’s race

Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan endorsed Kevin James in the mayor’s race Friday, a major coup for the Republican candidate who is seeking to capture conservative votes.

Riordan, who is one of the most prominent Republican leaders in Los Angeles, praised James as the only candidate who isn’t beholden to labor unions.

Riordan has warned repeatedly that the city could face bankruptcy if it doesn’t rein in its employee costs, a claim that some mayoral candidates,
including City Councilman Eric Garcetti, have dismissed as overblown.

Kevin James has used Riordan’s favorable quotes in his campaign
literature but until now had not secured Riordan’s official support.

In Irons

Over at The Corner Yuvai Levin makes the case that the White House and the Democrats are in irons, and that was clearly demonstrated in the SOTU.  They have power, and the capacity to tactically devastate their domestic political enemies, but they lack strategic vision, direction and control.  This is not lost on Americas enemies and competitors, which will, no doubt, take full advantage of the Administration’s flubs and disjointed flailing. This Administration, if it continues as it has; there is no reason to expect otherwise; will be known forevermore as the Lord Elphinstone Presidency.  Led by a blustering, incompetent poseur who elevates third rate incompetent buffoons positions of critical national  importance.  Judy Collins’ question has finally been answered, Where are the Clowns?  They are at State, Defense and the CIA.

Now is the time for Republicans to devise a handful of clear, simple and effective initiatives and unite in pressing them relentlessly.

Primer on How to Beat the Media

Primer on How to Beat the Media

Ben Shapiro recently took apart Piers Morgan on Morgan’s show over the gun control issue.  In this talk he explains the principles of how he did it and how we can apply those same principles to all our discussions with the Left.  This should be required study for anyone who is thinking of running for office.

‘1984’ All Over Again

Over at The People’s Cube Oleg has posted links to a series of three articles that outlines the Left’s strategy of political domination. Nothing there is really new for those familiar with Orwell’s “1984” and “Animal Farm,” but he lays out how he sees things going down in the Obamanation. Having been employed as a graphic artist in one of the propaganda arms of the former Soviet Union he sees America repeating a pattern all too drearily familiar to him. Demonize the opposition, blame them for all failure, attack them relentlessly, create and direct public anger against them and ultimately mobilize the public to demand their enemies’ destruction.  Alinskyism, if effect.

This is what the Republican Party and our allies will be facing for the foreseeable future.  As your humble correspondent sees it, a war has been launched against us and we are bid surrender or be bludgeoned into submission.  My personal choice is “None of the above,”  I’m betting that yours is the the same.  I might also mention that I am a proponent of victory in war.

As I see it, a local club is not likely to be called upon to hammer out strategy and tactics at the national level, thought it is to be hoped that some elements of our input might filter up to those heights; we will be called upon to implement national strategy on at the local level.  Beyond that it is incumbent on us to hammer out strategies and tactics to gain victories here at home.  It is my hope that this space be in part used to discuss ideas and strategies that will ultimately lead to victories not only locally, at the State and National levels, but at the personal level within the sphere of influence each of us has.

Ours is a difficult position, we are the underdog.  In 1940 Winston Churchill had noting to promise his country but blood, toil, tears and sweat.  We are all familiar with those things, having recently toiled, sweated, gotten bloodied and wept.  There will be more of that.  OK, fine.  What we cannot allow is a collapse into a state of passive self pity, which is, after all, the goal the Left has for us, it is the effect they aim to achieve. Don’t give it to ’em.  Don’t even let ’em suspect it.

But be encouraged!  The Good Book tells us that “strength is perfected in weakness.”  The good news is that we got the necessary ingredient: weakness, and lots of it!  It is also there written, “If the Lord does not build the house, in vain do its builders labor; if the Lord does not watch over the city, in vain does the watchman keep vigil.”  It seems that a page from St. Augustine is apropos at this point: Pray like it all depends on God, work like it all depends on you.
