Unmaking America

The Founding Fathers were all men who believed in the rights of Englishmen.  These rights were forged over centuries starting long before the Magna Carta was written in 1215.  The American Revolution was the latest in a long line of struggle between the power of the Crown and the rights of the aristocracy and, extended over time, the rights of the common man.  Unique in the annals of history the power of English autocrats was successfully curbed by the lower orders who not only upheld their rights against the Crown’s usurpations, but did so without destroying the King’s authority or reducing themselves into mere mobs.

The American Declaration of Independence enumerates the King’s violations of those rights.  The Bill of Rights enshrines some of those rights.  The rights of Englishmen were guaranteed by the system of governance outlined in the Constitution of the United States.  Over the following centuries the rights and duties of American citizens have been developed in a system of laws which voluntarily bind every citizen.  The beauty of, and the reason for the success of the American system is that anyone from anywhere who accepted the American way of life automatically gained the rights of Englishmen along with the duties and opportunities that came with them, regardless of race, creed or place of origin.

Through the years millions have flocked to our shores to become part of the greatest experiment in history, e pluribus unum.  For the vast majority it was a difficult and perilous journey and many there were who died along the way.  Many millions more gaze longingly at what America is, but unable to make the trip salute us from afar.  Up until 1965 the United States kept careful watch over those they admitted, limiting the numbers allowed to enter, and carefully scrutinized by Visa Officers the world over.

Starting in the Roosevelt administration the Democratic Party began a campaign to divide and conquer, pitting one group of Americans against another for political advantage.  Once the Dems were taken over by Communist infiltrators, they set about using the same strategy of divide and conquer for a different kind of victory.  The Donks picked up where the KGB left off.  To achieve that victory it was necessary to destroy the trust based comity that was the hallmark of America.  Oh, for sure there was a good deal of racial, religious and personal animosity, but not nearly as extreme as in other parts of the world.

Now it is Democrat policy to pit one group of Americans against another on the basis of entirely spurious group rights based on indoctrinated group identity promoted and fostered by policies enacted and enforced by shadowy ‘thought leaders’ at every level of society.  Now we’re back to men against women, children against parents, gays against trannies, blacks against browns against yellows and all against whites.  It is designed to systematically break down the native trust we have in one another, in our institutions and in the United States of America, the greatest nation the world has ever known.  It is evil.  Here is an example, one of many to be found on Youtube.

There are a whole bunch more of these videos indoctrinating young Asian girls.  There are a whole bunch more such videos indoctrinating every conceivable identity group.  Every last one of them is teaching Americans to hate America and mistrust other Americans.  This is the work of the radical Left to destroy us.  What do they imagine will become of them if, God forbid, they succeed?

Americans make America

Government, from the muckey-mucks in Washington, to the Morlocks of the Deep State to your friendly neighborhood meter maid, all believe that they make America what it is.  Nope, wrong, wrong, wrong.  Americans make America.  Here’s how it’s happening in Chico, California.  From the keyboard of Gerard Vanderleun at American Digest.  You might drop by and toss him a few shekels.

Chico is Leaving It All On the Field

Near closing time in the men’s Clothing Clearance Corner on the first floor of Penney’s at the Chico Mall, a young girl is replacing the piles of tossed clothing left by the numbed shoppers from Paradise frantic for cheap basic clothing. Some of them are camped in tents somewhere close by the mall; for how long nobody knows. But this young, quietly lovely girl is putting the Clothing Clearance Corner back in apple pie order as the store’s dismal day closes. I take my few finds from the Clothing Clearance Corner and, leaving, say, “That seems like a thankless task.”

“Not at all,” she replies. “Not at all.”

“Really? Why the hell not?”

“Hey, I do this job every day in this store. It’s my assigned task and usually its okay but I only do it for the money because it gets really monotonous, meaningless.”

She’s a student, I perceive.

“But today those people really needed these clothes in this corner because of the price. And tomorrow more people like that will really need them too. And so I want to make this the best I can for them. So I’m going to put it all back on hangers and arrange them by size. It will be right by the morning. You better go. We’re closing. Thank you for coming in.”

Just a young girl working late in the Clothing Clearance Corner. Doing one of those little jobs; one of those jobs that actually make the world turn. She was leaving it all on the field.

At the ends of the neighborhood streets, I see people setting up tables and I see the people of the neighborhoods coming out onto the main streets and putting out whatever they have to give there for the taking if needed. They are literally leaving it all on the field.

At the Elks Lodge after I picked up some bedding and a few new pillows and looked out over acres of goods being laid out for the taking, from flats of pet food to cribs and playpens (someplace safe to rest your baby that is not on your hip). As I was leaving to see the East Avenue Church scene an Elk (My late father was a member of this lodge up until his death in 1972); a brother, I say, of my father waves me over and opens the back seat of my car and puts in two cases of one liter bottles of San Pellegrino . The Elks are leaving it all on the field.

In the 24-Hour Walgreens Pharmacy on East Avenue, the pharmacists have been working overlapping shifts since the fire swept over Paradise last Thursday. These people and their back up staff work seemingly rock solid for hours on end. They fill and file and dispense medications which people from Paradise do not have with them. This is a demanding and thankless and exhausting task. And yet — I am the witness — they have been doing this without letup. Many have come in from surrounding towns, from Redding, to help and to keep the medications needed by a town of 30,000 displaced into a city of 80,000. Yes, the Walgreens pharmacists are leaving it all on the field.

Today, after the banking holiday of Monday, there was what can only be described as a run on the banks. Not a hostile or panicked run on the banks but just an overwhelming number of people needing to get their money straight in one way or another… such as “My ATM Card and My ID were melted in my wallet when my pants burst into flame.”  Please understand that today in Chico that is a  reasonable statement. And the bankers all showed up looking cool and formal and professional and competent and moved the vast lines of people through with all hands on deck and cleared up a myriad of money crises. One banker I spoke with came up from Santa Rosa on his day off to help the team. He was a sharp dressed man. He and the other bankers were leaving it all on the field.

They all were leaving it all on the field everywhere in Chico. From Penny’s in the Mall to the Birkenstocks Store downtown on Broadway. In big jobs, and in small jobs, there was a long train of people working at the top of their game no matter what their game was. It has been days of this now in Chico; days of there being no big jobs or small jobs but only the unremitting effort the people to help their fellow citizens no matter what.

And since none of the Acronym Agencies have really shown up yet, this has all been done without any real government organization. Instead, it has been like watching a spontaneous Humanitarian Olympics rise up out of the town itself; and once started it has become as self-organizing and self-sustaining as the fire itself. Today as I moved around Chico I saw a town, untouched itself by the flames, rise up to restore and rebuild the lives of their fellow citizens of Paradise; lives that the fire had stolen. And by the end of the day, you could feel, palpably feel, that Chico knew it would win. Chico was leaving it all on the field.

Tomorrow? Chico will do the same.

Be proud, Patriot!

Counterfactual

Over at PJ Media Robert Spence asks the question, Why Democrats Would Dare Steal Elections in Plain Sight.

The brazenness of the theft is astounding. Democrat election officials in Arizona and Florida, not finding the will of the people to their liking, are manufacturing a will of the people of their own. In Florida, they’re miraculously finding ballots — overwhelmingly votes for Democrats, of course — that were somehow inexplicably overlooked on election day. In Arizona, the Republican Party has accused Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes of “premeditated destruction of evidence” leading to “voting irregularities.”

We’ve known for ages that this is what the Democrats do.  LBJ  used to brag about it, and delighted in the practice.  It is pretty well universally believed that Mayor Daly delivered the presidency to JFK.  Al Franken in Minnesota won on the third recount after sufficient ballot boxes had been miraculously discovered to put him over the top.  The fact that there are over 3,000,000 more registered voters in the US than there are living adults certainly is a clue that electoral monkey business is afoot.

But why do it out in the open this time?  Spencer believes that whereas this openness about is not a bug due to stupid and incompetent people, thought I grant that there is plenty of that, but a feature.  Spencer again:

The Left is doing this out in the open to send a message:

There is nothing you can do. We will win. If we lose, we will cheat. We will lie. We will steal. And there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that you can do about it.

If the Democrats pull this off, they will have shown conservatives — and the world — that nothing could stop them. The governor of Florida couldn’t stop them. The courts couldn’t stop them. President Trump himself, who has been commenting repeatedly on Twitter about the theft, couldn’t stop them.

The lesson that conservatives are meant to learn is not just that the Left will stop at nothing, but that the Left is unstoppable. Republicans and conservatives can vote for “drain the swamp” candidates all they want — but the swamp will not be drained, as those candidates will not take office even if they win.

Well, maybe.  The Donks, bless their black little hearts, are trying to create a world in which they alone have seized, eternally hold and everlastingly wield all power, for ever and ever, amen.  They may well bring into existence the Glorious World of Next Tuesday, based on a 19th century industrial model of central control as horribly perfected in the 20th.  Such systems have tottered into the 21st Century, to be sure, but none are self sufficient and all will collapse in due course.

The reason is simple.  The absolute control of information that such regimes require is no longer possible  Oh, yes, the poor damned Norks are still under the Kim thumb, but even so information is filtering in and being disseminated on the QT, and is having a small but growing effect on the regime.  Monster China, with all its power can’t stop people from resisting the newly crowned Emperor Xi no matter how he papers over the problems.  Here in the US we are leaders still in the Free World, though you would never know it to watch the “news”.  The thrust of the 21st century is towards decentralization, greatly mediated by the internet.  Americans won’t tolerate having a 19th century government imposed on us.

Have a listen to Scott Rasmussen, who makes some very interesting and hopeful points.

All is not lost, it is just getting interesting.

War, armistice, the living and the dead

A little before noon today will mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War.  It was a war in which shattered men, living and dead were churned out in unimaginably great numbers.  It was the War to End All Wars, yet whose concluding Armistice planted the seeds of the next, even more horrific conflict.  On this day 100 years ago few could see that coming, all alike gave a great sigh of relief, and among the living, prayers of gratitude that it was finally over, prayers scarce heard over the cheering of the victors and the groans of the vanquished.

Victories and defeats are alike created by men who have pledged themselves to their sacred cause by staking their lives, their souls and their nation’s future on the outcome of their personal struggle.  Pacifists tell us that the cost is not worth the outcome in death and destruction, that there are better ways to adjudicate these great contests.  In a sense they are right, as Clausewitz notes, “War is politics by other means.”  War is a failure of diplomacy.  But pacifists err when they say that there is nothing worth fighting for.  Men do not present themselves to battle for the love of the fight, they do so because the principles they hold dear are worth more than their sacrifice can measure in suffering and in blood.

It has become common for people to say to those men and women who have so offered themselves to their country’s ultimate sacrifice, “Thank you for your service.”  Those of us who stepped up and went into the hot spots of the Cold War remember when it was not so.  I am grateful for the change.  My response to civilians is, “It was my privilege.”  For so I count it.  It is a privilege to defend this great American Republic and its Constitution, just as it is a privilege to be an American citizen and enjoy the rights and duties that privilege entails.  To my fellow vets, “Welcome home.  Glad you made it.”

Our Republic has been sustained by four boxes.  Today we see that there are those among us who are attempting to deny us three of them.  Today we see it, but the fact is that this is a fight that has been going on for a long, long time.  We have only become aware gradually and individually until recently as the Left seeks to undermine and overthrow our government and our way of life.  Today we see that, unless we do something about it, we will be deprived of three of them, and then the fourth will follow.

We have frequently written in these electronic pages of the assault on the First and Second Amendments which have been ongoing.  Today I must draw your attention to the assault on the ballot box.  Years ago Hugh Hewitt wrote a book I have referenced here, “If Its Not Close They Can’t Cheat.”  Because cheat they will and cheat they must of they are to win.  It is not just Arizona and Florida, these are only the most celebrated cases today, it has been going on for a very long time, and it is time to put a stop to it.

America has a serious problem, and it demands a serious solution:

– Nullify all election results where there were more voters than there are legal voters.
– Freeze all election results where fraud is suspected and/or found.
– Investigate, criminally charge, prosecute, and jail voter fraudsters.
– Clean-up ‘dirty’ voting rolls.
– Implement No ID=No Vote procedures.
– Hold honest elections.
Mexico can do it, so can we.

The circus is coming to town

The GOP not only held the Senate, but increased our majority there.  This is good because we don’t have to pander to RINO squishes to get enough votes to confirm Trump’s excellent nominees.  It looks very much like the Donks got hammered in the Senate for their dog and donkey show at the Kavanaugh hearings, which is good.  The question now is, will they learn anything from it?

I say, “not likely.”  My money says that what they see is that their shenanigans fired up their lunatic leftie base.  Sanity would dictate that they would moderate their tone and play nice, or what passes for ‘nice’ in a Demoncrat’s mind.  But if they were sane they wouldn’t be closet (and in many cases out and out) communists masquerading as Americans.

During the last two years as Congressional Republicans have been investigating the collusion of the US intelligence services with the Clinton campaign the deep state has been playing peek-a-boo with Congress’ request for documents.  The Republicans have been really weak on this as every time they ask for something the FBI or whoever either slow walks it over or refuses the request on national security grounds.  Then the Republicans give them a 2nd chance, again and again and again.  “Mr. FBI man, this is your fifth 2nd chance and it is absolutely the last time we’ll ask.  If you don’t give it to us we’ll do something awful, and this time we really mean it.”  They blew their chance.  Pathetic.

In your humble correspondent’s opinion there should never have been a 2nd chance, there should have been Federal Marshals sent in and incarcerations for contempt of Congress.  Now that the Commiecrats are going to be in charge you can bet your bippy that they won’t be so patient and understanding.  It did not help that the President waited so long to declassify the relevant documents and then reversed himself.

During the last two years as the radical Left has worked ceaselessly to engineer a soft coup all Democrat officials had to do was not be crazy, and they couldn’t do it.  All the while they have been freaking out saying the most outlandish things and making the most outrageous threats.  Make no mistake, those threats are a promise of what their policy will be.  Hillary told us that civility could be restored only if the Democrats won.  Well they’ve won a partial victory.  Will it be enough?  Seriously, you had to ask?  Of course not!

Civility is all about dealing with other people with respect and trust and it can only happen when both sides can presume that the other is acting in good faith.  It is what civilized people do.  Civility is for suckers when facing barbarians.  Barbarians will laugh while ripping your guts out.  Lindsey Graham figured that out during the Kavanaugh hearings, pray he does not soon forget.  Pray also that he not be the only Republican so educated.

The Donks will be out of their minds even more than usual, being newly drunk with power and bent on punishing their enemies.  Regardless of Hillary’s disingenuous maunderings she has unconsciously set the agenda, to destroy the enemies of the Progressive Revolution.  Whether the GOP defends itself effectively or not, its going to be a great, great show.

The circus is coming to town, and is not planning to leave any time soon.

And they’re off!

Polls are open, get out there and vote!  Reminder to Democrats: you can only do that ONCE today.

If somebody needs a ride to get to the polls we have a volunteer, so let me know and I’ll help get that set up.  Just send me an email with your name, address and phone number and I’ll vector a volunteer your way.

Here is the official Election Voter Complaint Form.   As it controlled by Alex Padilla I don’t know how effective it would ultimately be.  I have not discovered a number to call if you find it happening at your polling place.

Here is the website for the Election Integrity Project California.  www.EIP-Ca.com  They will be monitoring the messages in real time on election day, I’m told, so that you can contact them quickly and they will respond to you right away.  It seems as the best thing is fill out the little email request form there and somebody will get back to you.

So get out there, do your duty and WIN!

UPDATE!

Thanks to member SH we have this great info to share:

Schiff tactics of desperation

Adam Schiff, Devilcrat, shows off his brilliant lying scare tactics again.  How better can he get votes than by scaring the elderly by falsely telling them that the Republicans plan to attack Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.  In an email sent to supporters this week he said:

Instead of working to strengthen these programs, Republicans in Congress have announced they plan to cut these programs to pay for the deficit-exploding tax cuts they passed this year for big corporations and wealthy families.

What a load of hooey!  What Sciffty Schiff is  worried about is that Republicans will enact needed reforms to reduce fraud, the very fraud Democrats depend on to sustain their bottomless thirst for graft.  The American people aren’t served when these programs continue to pay benefits to people who have been dead for decades.  I guess this the mechanism by which Democrats use taxpayer dollars to induce the dead to show up and vote.

Its not just Schiff, the Donks are in trouble just about everywhere, and they know it.  As always, if they can’t win by the strength of their arguments and policy proposals …  OK, OK, stop laughing.  They can never win by honestly presenting their proposals in a rational and palatable way, they must always, always, always resort to lies and dirty tricks to confuse and demoralize Republican voters.

So don’t be distracted, focus on what you know, what is certain, vote the straight Republican ticket.  We’ve broken it down for you over here.  Sometimes our candidates leave much to be desired, but even so there can be no real doubt that ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.  Show up on Tuesday and be counted.  Any Republican who stays home is in essence casting a vote for the Democrats.  Remember, if its not close they can’t cheat.  They’ll try for sure but there is a limit to how many “lost” ballot boxes can be found in the trunks of Demoncrat cars.

Because you are all, every last one of you, faithful Patriots who WILL get out and vote the straight Republican ticket on Tuesday, you are invited to a Election Night Watch Party.  Johnny is hosting this, but I’m sure that there will be some kind of charge.

Where: The Wine Cave 2427 Honolulu Ave. Montrose, CA 91020

When: Tuesday, November 6 from 7.00 PM till the champagne pops.

The beginning of the end?

The cosmopolitan elite in the US has been going bonkers over the election of Donald Trump, so much so that they have organized an ongoing but so far unsuccessful soft coup to bring him and all he stands for down.  That effort has had many components acting in concert generally known as #theResistance, a rather transparent attempt to accrue to the plotters and their masses of useful idiots the cachet of honor and glory earned by the Resistance by various underground organizations opposing Hitler’s occupation of France, Holland, Norway and other European nations during WWII.

These self-styled heroes are seeing the denouement of decades of work to bring about the destruction of civilization and the rise of the monolithic New World Order.  Long time devotees of Marxist-Lenninist visions of the triumph of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat and the Worker’s Paradise (which turns out be Hell for the workers and Paradise for the Vanguard of the Proletariat), having come so close to the ultimate success of their treason are seeing it undone by Trump and the rise of other uncouth nationalists the world over.  It has melted their brains.

Here in the US they are pulling out all the stops to put paid to this nasty little revolt against their power.  Of course the media propaganda megaphone blaring false prophecies of Trumpian Doom, that we’ve known for a long time.  What’s new is the call to “direct action”, be that in the form of Antifa, harassing and assaulting Republicans in public places, censorship of opposition voices in social media, be it Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or Instagram and economic strangulation by cutting off offending enterprises from payment portals such as business credit card accounts, PayPal, GoFundMe and Indiegogo, to name a few.

The Soros funded Vast Left Wing Conspirators scream endlessly about the imaginary Vast Right Wing Conspiracy they have concocted from their own odium and fear driven projections to serve as a focus against which to drive the ignorant, gullible masses into their camp with ever more frantic calls to ever more frenzied Two Minutes of Hate rituals.  But the more they howl and posture and dance and wave the threadbare bloody flag the more absurd their claims become and the more transparently false they are seen to be.

The Democrat leadership are still talking up a Blue Wave come November; what else could they do?  But even as they predict victory those predictions are sounding awful hollow, victory is slipping from their grasp; the best they can hope for is a Blue Ripple.  They know it, and it is driving them to do and say even more stupid things to turn a skeptical electorate their way  Everything they do backfires on them.  They will soon have to abandon their donkey logo and change it to a bedraggled coyote.

The price of wisdom

At various times in history wisdom has been highly valued and those who attain it vastly admired and much sought after by those who wished to attain it.  Witness King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.

I Kings 10 1-5

When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the Lord, she came to test Solomon with hard questions. Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind. Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built, the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at[a] the temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed.

Alas, wisdom is not the hallmark of our age, rather we are beset by sophists preaching Marxist derived cargo cults of one kind of another, and tragically, by and large we have believed them.  Worse, committed to faith in these hollow dogmas many millions have not only turned away from wisdom, but attempt to silence those who would proclaim it, labelling it “hate speech.”

The best way to learn wisdom is sit at the feet of a master and drink it in.  We used to have a lot of these masters, expounding one form or another of it from our pulpits, our public intellectuals, our schools and as a result, from our kitchen tables.  From Ben Franklin to Bishop Sheen, from Abraham Lincoln to Ronald Reagan, words of wisdom went forth and were eagerly devoured by those who loved wisdom.  That’s the easy way.

The hard way is, well, hard.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

The hard path to wisdom hard precisely because it is painful.  What does not work, has never worked and can never work won’t work for us just because we want it to.  And when we try to work it, the results are failure.  This is called “making a mistake.”  The good news is that a mistake is an attempt that did not achieve the desired or expected end, and that, if you survive it, you learned what does not work.  So next time do something differently.  Ideally, follow the advice of Wisdom.  Tears plus contrition are the price we all pay for wisdom.

Wretchard of the Belmont Club

Those tears need not be our own, we can learn wisdom just as well by observing the mistakes of others, especially by observing the fool persist in his mistake.  We surrounded by fools persisting in their mistakes, which ought to mean that we are immersed in a learning environment.  The Progressive network of policy prescriptions are resulting in many things turning out not as expected in very painful ways.  Over at The Belmont Club Wretchard (aka Richard Fernandez) has a great essay on just exactly this.  A sample:

It was a grand, glittering vision that hit a snag. China and Russia did not democratize and liberalize as theory held.  The September 11 attacks suggested MENA wouldn’t either.  The crash of 2008 warned of the danger posed by bad information in the system. By Obama’s second term the Arab Spring, the European migrant crisis, Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine and China’s expansionism should have made it clear the End of History was off course. But Hillary in 2016 somehow managed to miss it even with Brexit staring her staff in the face.  Despite its control of conventional wisdom or perhaps because of it, the establishment candidate failed to detect the biggest threat to her candidacy with shocking results.

The Left and the Donks are pulling out all the stops not because they are feeling confident of victory, but because they smell defeat in the air and are desperate.  They have tied their fortunes to the ravings of a millenarian visionary and while they themselves still believe that the path to power lies in repeating the same tired old, shabby mantras the great mass of the electorate sees them for the shady barking of a threadbare flim-flam artist.

The elections next week are a test to see of America has sufficiently awakened from the hypnotic spell of the Socialism Oil Salesman.  As patriots it is our proud but difficult duty to do all we can to awaken our countrymen to the danger that threatens us all.  Let’s be about it, then.  We shouldn’t have to wait for those on the brink of destruction to tell us, we should see it for ourselves.  I, for one, am grateful for their witness, despite the rather crude language at times.
