Summer of Recovery 3

Market Ticker has a marvelous chart which explains why Summer of Recovery 3 will be as big a hit as was Summer of Recovery 2.  And since nothing succeeds like success, we’re also being set up for Summer of Recovery 4!  Nobody’s quite sure, but the hot money says it’s being written by Cloward-Piven and performed by the wonderful, zany descendants of the Keystone Cops, our very own Elite Political Class.

Bush did not lie.

The 10th anniversary of the Iraq war has rolled around and the anti-war Left is still repeating the same old falsehoods that were the party line a decade ago.  It is truly said that the victors write history, and the Party of (false) Peace is still in the business of repeating their lying doctrine until either it is universally believed or all contrary witnesses have been silenced, and that is truly sad.  But true witnesses are still around; once in a while their voices momentarily pierce the clamor.  Perhaps many years from now the truth about Iraq will be fully known, as it now known about Vietnam, though seldom spoken.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Commander Salamander:

My executive summary is founded on this – on 9/11 I was actually in theater, a quick jump to the Iraqi border. In those first few days after the attacks, you know what the N2/J2 folks were kicking out as threats? All coming from Iraq. From small groups of terrorists to actual chemical weapons coming over the walls in mortar shells. The message traffic, the briefings … it is all part of the public record now. Either the US military and all our allies were suffering from mass delusion, were part of a huge conspiracy, or … perhaps … we were making estimates based on the information and intelligence available to us – and what we saw – at that place in time – without the benefit of 20/20 hindsight from pampered agenda-driven, foam flecked partisan haters.

Go read the whole thing.

What’s in a name?

The Hill has an interesting poll about people’s preferences regarding fiscal matters.  The good news is that most people prefer fiscal programs that reflect Republican proposals by about 2:1 when party affiliation is hidden.  The bad news is that once the name ‘Republican’ is mentioned, support evaporates.  Breitbart.com’s Mike Flynn makes the point: “As The Hill poll shows, however, the party has already won the policy debate. It is continuing to lose the political debate, however. The voters simply don’t trust the Republicans to stick to their policies.”

Too true.  Plus the Republicans have been playing Brer Fox to the Democrats’ Alinkyite Brer Rabbit.  Plus the Republicans have too often shown themselves just as eager to get their hooks on Federal money and perks as their “friends across the aisle.”
The recent CPAC convention can be summarized as follows: Republicanism as a good ol’ boy’s club of genteel, New England moderates is a dead party walking.  Conservative principles generate a great deal of support, if not passionate enthusiasm among the citizenry in general.  Conservative principles, when articulated clearly and unambiguously carry the ideological day every time.

The empty chair on foreign affairs

Richard Fernandez, aka Wretchard, has a devastating critique of the Obama administration’s handling of national security and foreign affairs.  Here’s a sample, do read the whole thing.

Pakistan, Iran and North Korea might each be developing components of a nuclear weapons and delivery platform under the diplomatic protection of Russia and China. And suppose terrorism were not simply the product of mutant sects in Islam, but of a concerted effort by secret services, like the ISI, to send proxy enemies against the West?

Such a condition would imply the necessity of a crash program of energy independence to deny the Muslim oil producers their monetary leverage. That situation would call for active ideological warfare against radical Islam and it’s 5th Column: the radical maddrassas.

But the adminstration’s security policies evince no such world view; and in place of any discernible comprehensive strategy the administration offers a patchwork cocktail consisting of  ”leading from behind”, windmills, auto scrappage, electric cars powered from oil-fired power plants, encouragement for the ‘Arab Spring’, outreach to Islam, pinprick drone attacks on countries which are nuclear armed! without even the benefit of Congressional authorization. It has pursued an unremitting program of defense cuts and  it is now belatedly reviving a missile defense system to defend itself against one of the poorest nations on the face of earth.

However it never answers the question: who is behind the Nokor Nukes and what part does it play in a larger game? But that’s a tinfoil hat question. Everyone knows there is no larger context in which  the administration’s should exercise its genius. “Smart adhocracy” — the hearty laugh and round of dance with Ellen de Generes  or Oprah Winfrey — will be enough.

Seems to me that the real problem with drones is not that they are being operated against jihadis in Pakistan, but that they are being operated against the American people and our allies at the highest levels of national command authority in Babylon on the Potomac.

Administrative state metastasis

Back in the day, Mrs. Black, my PoliSci 101 prof, elucidated the real rules for bureaucracies.

  1. Perpetuate its own existence.
  2. Extend its power and influence
  3. Defend and increase its budget and turf
  4. Complexify its internal operations
  5. Perform the function it was created for.

Obamacare regsSenate majority leader Mitch McConnell has put out a picture of what that looks like in practice.  On the right, 1,600 pages of Obamacare; on the left, 20,000+ pages of Obamacare regulations so far.  In the words of the prophet Pelosi, “We have to pass it find out what’s in it.”  Indeed.

This is a business killer, which is exactly what it was intended to be.  Obamacare was from the start intended to nationalize the entire medical insurance industry and establish a Federal health management system as a sinecure for supporters of the Party of Socialism.

Hello, islamophobia!

Those who know anything about Islamic expansionism will be aware that the Saudi Arabian based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) holds the largest block vote within the UN, and that they are working hard (and spending a lot of money) trying to stop any criticism of Islam in the West.

The OIC, in accordance with sharia law, deems all criticism of Islam to be invalid. It does not matter if it is true or untrue; the mere fact that it is critical is simply not allowed. Period. The buzzword they have come up with to negate our defence against their extremist ideology is ‘Islamophobia’ which of course means an irrational fear of Islam.

This is very clever. By utilising the word Islamophobia they manage to pigeonhole any critics of Islam as being of questionable mental equilibrium – which may not be true initially, but may well be the case after a few years, simply because trying to make sense of this madness must surely drive us slowly insane.

All of which can be found at the website of Liberty GB, which seems to be a new political party forming up in the United Kingdom.  I wish these people all the luck in the world.

One of the things I have noticed over the years is that Left always gives itself away, revealing its own hidden motivations and agenda by projecting them onto others.  If find it totally unsurprising that the Left’s unspoken totalitarian aspirations should embrace the most totalitarian religion on the planet.   No one would dare say, though, that the people who are pushing this islamophobia meme are themselves suffering from either Christianophobia or Christophobia.  Well, OK, I would.

Shocker – Left wants to ban ALL guns!

As if we didn’t know it.  From Breitbart:

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), a member of the Democratic Party’s leadership in the House of Representatives, suggested to Jason Mattera at a Feb. 13 women’s rights rally that plans for an assault weapons ban and private-sales background checks were only the beginning of a broader gun control agenda extending to handguns as well.
