Mike Cernovich recently produced the movie Hoaxed which I bought and now make available to you. As I understand the terms of sale I am free to make it available to you.
We knew already that the mainstream media is essentially a propaganda machine operating for its own profit and the advancement of a left wing political ideology. Cernovich goes into not only the details, but the philosophical underpinnings of the means, methods, whys and wherefores of this most unreal of realities. At just over two hours length you can be glad that you have a pause button. As I have the file I will be happy to make it available for use by any group with the technical means to play it off a USB thumb drive.
Seems like forever that Republicans have complained that the Party is divided, RINOs vs. Republicans of the Rock Ribbed variety. The complaint is justified. It seems that Republicans only get proactive when there are enough Democrats to stop them. Certainly Republican leadership in both houses of Congress has been, to put it charitably, a mixed bag. We have all been sickened by watching Republican legislators pledge eternal enmity to some Democrat idiocy only to cave a short while later; look no further than the whole Obamacare debacle.
Will … not … go … there …
In contrast the Demonrats march forward in lockstep, never faltering, their united front never cracking. We tend to take this for granted as we all know they are mindless, collectivist zombies, as Bob Hope famously pointed out here. Their Party discipline is indeed formidable, and their leadership descends on any strays like a ton of bricks, demanding every member advance the destruction of America and the triumph of the the Revolution that will usher in the Glorious World of Next Tuesday. The wonder is that they don’t openly call each other ‘comrade’.
With the advent of Democratic Socialism, a euphemism for baby steps to Communism, that seems to be changing. Some members of the Destruction Party have dimly glimpsed the truth that some of their constituents might not be too happy with the stampede to the Left and fear that they won’t be re-elected if they go along. Just as with Pubbie pols every Donk’s dearest wish is to be re-elected in perpetuity; they would have to get a real job otherwise. It seems that not every constituency has yet figured out how to manufacture ballot boxes stuffed with Dem votes on demand.
It seems that the Michael Cohen testimony – speaking of rats – is not yielding the overwhelming evidence of Trump’s “crimes” they paid for expected. This is very disappointing as they hunger and thirst for Trump’s impeachment. Which is strange, because if they succeed they would get Pence, which they would hate even more. But the result of the hearings seems to be an odd diffidence about charging up Impeachment Hill. Its almost as if they know they couldn’t pull it off with the evidence they have. A little voice seems to be whispering to the old stalwarts, “This is not the hill to die on.”
Same thing with Occasional Cortex’s Green New Deal, every environmental activist’s wet dream. Same thing with their new Muzzy Girls calling for the Final Solution in America. Same thing with – surprise! – immigration and gun control. There are actually Dems refusing to support some of the bills Democrats are advancing as fully as the leadership would like; Dem legislators voting with Republicans. Who’d ‘a thunk?
It turns out that Republicans can stand together to oppose the Destructocrats’ madness. When they do they help split the Commies (D) and fracture their cohesion. It may not be a victory for the Good Guys (R) yet, but is sure slows the enemy’s triumphal march. This is a good thing.
My thoughts on the CA GOP’s New Chair – Jessica Patterson
In response to the inquiries I have received, as the former Party Chairman, here are my thoughts . . .
First, keep this in mind:
1. Being Chairman of a party is NOT at all like being a candidate for legislative office. Candidates are about policy positions and getting votes. Being Party Chairman is about preparing that party for the next Election Day.
2. Party’s do just two things: Collect voters and get them to the polls. Everything else is in aid of those two basic functions. Fundraising, voter registration, press releases, conventions, volunteer coordination, initiative support, etc.
All of that is about Election Day.
As for Jessica:
1. She ran a nearly flawless campaign and immediately reached out to her opponents on the important issue of voter registration. She also made it quite clear that she was ready to lead the fight against Democrats in this state. She deserves credit for that. Good starts are just that – good.
2. Her biggest challenge, in my view, will be to convince the grass roots to believe in the party again. She has to restore the volunteer model of party politicking. Volunteers are essential to registering voters and getting them to the polls. Her offer to Travis Allen and Steve Frank to head up a voter registration task force certainly indicates she wants to start by casting a wide net. It is her responsibility to do that and YOUR responsibility, if you are a CA Republican, to give her help in that regard.
3. I know some will question the process and her “conservative” credentials.
Quite plainly, she is not running for governor. Her job is harder than that.
What matters is whether she can create common ground between the grass roots, donors and legislators.
Intraparty-partisanship can wreck the best of intentions.
She has to find common ground among members not in agreement – all successful parties must have that. CA Republicans are 3rd in registration behind decline to state. Politics is a game of addition.
There are enough issues on which all Republicans can work together. She cannot afford to participate in intraparty fights and you should not advocate that at this point – unless you want your party to fall to 4th place.
Her responsibility is not about being predominatly conservative or moderate. It is about working with both. That’s what party Chairs have to do – especially in California.
4. Please note, she will not be choosing who runs for governor any more than a party chair chose Arnold or Meg Whitman. Your candidate support decides that.
Finally, she has been holding party office for just hours. As a former Chairman, I hope people will judge her on her actions in the days and months ahead – not on their perceptions of the past or what other chairs have done. She is young and energetic. She has a ready smile and served the right notice on the Democrats.
That’s a good start and I want her to succeed. We need her to succeed.
There will be plenty of opportunities to judge if that is something you want to do. For now, if you care about the Republican party, give her the benefit of the doubt, help if you can, stay engaged and starting working for candidates.
You’re the biggest part of any party and always will be.
Not a lot of time to chit chat this morning. Brevity is the soul of wit anyhow.
One of the peculiarities of my Naval career – such as it was – is that I spent my entire enlistment on the same relatively small ship. That didn’t require a lot of intelligence gathering outside of paying attention to what other vessels and aircraft were in the vicinity. So the whole idea of putting together a network to keep track of the situation on the ground is pretty much alien to me. If we became aware of a situation on the ground that required our attention we cleared it up with naval gunnery. No more situation.
Naval gunnery is no longer an option for me, alas, nor is it for you. Those Problematical Situations aren’t miles away across the water, they are right here on land where they can easily walk over and say, “Howdy.” The Ravishing Wife tends to criticize your humble correspondent for wanting to know what’s going on when a Situation turns up. “Mind your own business” is her watchword. A good watchword, to be sure, when it involves the neighbors two doors down having another marital knock down drag out, but not so good when something more unusual is happening. I want to know so I can either get us the hell away from there or help if necessary.
So when Aesop of Raconteur Report linked to this I subscribed immediately. Recommended for your attention. Turns out that there is more to victory than feeding the guns.
Trump signed that awful budget that only gave him a fraction of the money he wanted for the wall. I don’t think he should have, but then the Coast Guard would have suffered despite the GOP’s efforts to insure that they got paid despite the shut down. He then declared a National Emergency, evidently piggy backing on one of Obama’s pen-and-phone executive orders. It seems as if Cocaine Mitch McConnell set him up, telling him that there were no bombs in the budget; there were plenty of bombs in the budget. Now we get to do it all over again in September. Expect a judge in Hawaii to file an injunction to stop any wall building. Thanks, Republicans, you had your chance and you blew it ((‘m looking at you, Paul Ryan).
Meanwhile Nancy ‘Botox Babe’ Pelosi assures us that next time they have one of their own in the White House they could pull a National Emergency on gun control. Fabulous! Can’t wait to get civil war started, Nance? I’ll bet the Demoncrats have been yukking it up in the back rooms planning that one. I doubt if they’ll try it. They are still moving ahead incrementally to disarm We the People. I’ve seen a lot more Red Flag laws being implemented, and already there have been harmless, law-abiding citizens killed by police using no-knock 5AM SWAT tactics to confiscate weapons. I suspect that if they go for a National Gun Confiscation Emergency they’ll get a lot more emergency than they bargained for.
After two years and tens of millions of taxpayer dollars Bob Mueller’s Russia Collusion probe seems to be coming to an end, not with a bang but with a whimper. Don’t expect to see a public report or even a clean termination, it will simply be allowed to sink into the Memory Hole. The Senate investigation reports that they can’t find anything, but you’ll never see that on the organs of propaganda. But our very own Rep. Adam ‘Schiff for Brains’ Schiff promises that the House will continue to investigate. That will at least keep him busy and out of trouble, up there on his high chair horse. Thanks, Republicans, you had your chance and you blew it.
Meanwhile, bit by bit, the Intelligence services’s conspiracy to engineer a coup against a duly elected and sworn President is being exposed. A great many in upper management of the FBI have already been fired. But firing is not enough, they need to be prosecuted and, at least some of them, executed for treason. Most of these seem to have close connections to the Democratic Party and the Wannabe Felon in Chief – unexpectedly. Our national security is dependent on these agencies, and we find them more interested in feathering their own nests by acting as moles for a domestic subversive power, the Communist International masquerading as American patriots. All these agencies, and no doubt many more, need to be swept with a cleansing fire.
The private sector is not off the hook either. The Drive By Media we all know about, and their fake news has become laughably transparent, fortunately, and more and more people are deserting them. More insidious are the big social media sites that have been acting as gatekeepers for the Left. Mircosoft recently set up a trusted news code on their Edge browser that labels any approved Lefits propaganda “Trustworthy” and all else “Fake.” Facebook, Twitter, Google, Youtube have all taken steps to censor any voices not firmly in the Progressive camp.
But it is not just the social media giants de-platforming and de-funding unapproved thought, but the payment portals such as PayPal, Patreon and GoFundMe among others have refused to honor their service agreements with clients whose opinions they oppose. Nor is it simply these internet portals, the credit card processors and banks have also instituted lists of approved and disapproved providers of goods and services whose earnings they allow or withhold on ideological grounds.
Congressional oversight of this sector is needed but unlikely in a Congress dominated by a majority who live comfortably in the pockets of these Liberal billionaires. The good news is that as a response to the effort to control adverse information by all these Lefty platforms, alternative platforms are springing up. Despite the efforts of these closet totalitarians We the People just aren’t shutting up and lying down. One place that this shows so clearly is in the free choice of millions of people to support or not Leftist aligned organizations with their consumer dollars. Dick’s Sporting Goods is on the ropes as a result of their anti-gun polices. Openly Christian, real marriage supporting Chick-fil-A thrives.
In the end we win and they lose. Meanwhile stock up on ammo and food, and stay away from crowds.
It is told that American poet laureate Robert Frost attended a poetry reading by visiting Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. Frost was seated in the front row and became so envious and enraged that he set his own clothes on fire to distract attention from Thomas and bring the evening to a premature conclusion. The two men so very very different in personality and outlook, but each had important things to say.
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
— Robert Frost —
Events in America and Europe have been trending Leftward not as an organic development but as the result of a well organized cabal kicked off by Soviet thirst for world domination and carried forward by leftists ever since the Evil Empire’s collapse. That the KGB was all about subversion of the West cannot be doubted in the face massive and mounting evidence, one example among many you see to the right. Because the Soviets knew that they weren’t strong enough militarily to defeat the free world they chose, right at the outset of their October Revolution, to begin subverting the West.
Now that so-called Democratic Socialism has become trendy all over the American Left it bids fair to become the road we might yet take despite Socialism’s proven legacy of famine, terror, mass murder and utter, abject and endlessly cascading failure. The one thing Socialism, no matter it is called Liberalism, Progressivism or Marxist Leninism, the one thing it has been really good at is concentrating power and wealth in the hands of a ruthless few at the expense of the many. The many, it must be said who approved and enables the takeover of their societies before they regretted it.
The biggest offender? Not Russia, but Mexico. Mexican officials publicly called on Mexicans in the US to oppose Trump; Mexico’s over fifty–yes, fifty–consulates in the US (here) are hot beds of political activity and activism. Millions of illegal and legal aliens largely from Mexico and Central America vote, yes vote. We need to have an in-depth investigation into Mexico’s interference in our elections, an interference that goes well beyond revealing embarrassing DNC texts.
And more recently,
We see this story in the Wall Street Journal (and here) in which Mexican officials, including their diplomats in the US, are seeking to “jam” US courts with contested deportations. The Mexican government has set aside millions of dollars to help illegal Mexican migrants in the US fight efforts to deport them. In addition, Mexico, apparently, is contemplating the grotesque tactic of demanding that we PROVEthat deportees are Mexican citizens before Mexico will accept them. In other words, we have to provide the documentation that Mexico failed to provide its own citizens. Mexican officials are holding meetings in Arizona with US politicians warning them about the harm to US-Mexico relations if illegal aliens are deported or prevented from coming to the US. Mexican officials are openly encouraging activists to block deportations. I find this nothing short of outrageous, but, nevertheless, a clear manifestation of the hostility that has long existed in Mexican officialdom for the USA.
Why are the Donks down with this? Because they see it as a stepping stone on the road to ultimate power and control. Here’s one take on it.
Personally I’m against being replaced, especially by hordes of people who have had hundreds if not thousands of years to build great civilizations but built hell holes instead and now want to come here to batten on what we have built and at the same time corrupt it. Not that I’m any sort of white supremacist, as if the issue were about epidermal melanin. The issue is, and yes, I know some of you are tired of hearing this, culture. As much as I love Frost’s poems, I’m going with Thomas on this one.
Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
One of the things that has increasingly puzzled me over the years is the Left’s love of abortion. It makes a certain kind of sense to view it as the ultimate contraceptive backstop, especially by men as a way to halt the quickie that won’t stop giving and avoid responsibility for the result while holding out the possibility of a repeat. Yet it is not men who are its most vocal and passionate promoters. Men, we are told, are to keep their mouths shut and their flies open.
With the passage of New York’s abortion law that permits an abortion even while the baby is being born, it is the most “liberal” in the nation, and that in a State that already had the most liberal abortion laws in the US, one wonders where they will go from here. The fact that almost simultaneously Virginia voted down their own similarly radical abortion law raises a question about the timing of these legislative efforts. There can be no doubt that the Tranzies are making another concerted push to pass similar laws in all 50 states.
As is typically true of all totalitarians they must loudly celebrate these “successes” while shouting down and attempting to silence the voices of opposition. Last year the movie “Gosnell” was bitterly opposed by the Left in even getting made, promotion of the movie was largely censored and though it did actually make it to the theaters it was frequently pulled from the lineup after one or two days. This censoring is nothing new. I recall back in the early 80’s a long article in the Los Angeles Times expatiating on the glories of a small group of pro-abortion demonstrators which failed to mention that it was actually a counter protest against a 100,000 strong pro-life march in Dowtown L.A.
The arguments advanced by abortion’s proponents have repeatedly been shown to be specious too often to rehearse here. As they with their entire agenda, it must be advanced by stealth, misdirection and downright lies. Nor will I today present the arguments ad contra, perhaps another day.
The Democrats, as the chosen vehicle of the Radical Left, are incrementalists. They have to be, for if they were to baldly declare the final goals of their ambitions the general population would rise against them in shock and horror. No, we are their lobsters in the pot and they must let us get used to the rising temperature of their agenda a few degrees at at time. It works because most people have a very short time frame in which they live and view the world, not looking very far ahead into the future and soon forgetting the past. All of us live in a more or less comfortable bubble of normalcy.
So if every time the Democrats get an electoral majority the first thing the do is relax the legal limits surrounding abortion it seems prudent to ask, what is the end game? The Dutch already have the Groningen Protocol that allows babies up to one year old to be euthanized, and you can bet that it will be introduced here come to legislatures across America in the near future. That will be pushed out to allow for the non-consensual killing of older severely ill and disabled persons. We have already legalized assisted suicide for older sick and suffering persons who request it. In the UK the National Health Service has already made the decision to live or die involuntary by withholding food and water for those deemed incurable. That will be coming our way soon.
But why? We can see our future in the most despicable Communist regimes in history. You, citizen, are not a sovereign individual with inherent value or rights, you are a monad who live at the State’s pleasure. Ironically, at the same time the Left pushes for the abolition of the death penalty for the worst criminals they push for the death penalty for crimes that seem much more heinous to them than murder or rape. The worst crimes are ideological, hence political crimes. Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, the Castros, the Kims, and the less successful heads of Communist movements, have murdered well over 100,000,000 not because of any crime of violence but because they were deemed ‘enemies of the people’, meaning the people in power.
It is here already. You can be destroyed for expressing the wrong opinion. You don’t even have to express that opinion, you just need to be a member of an ‘oppressive’ class or smile at the wrong time and howling mobs of maddened leftist will descend on you to ruin your reputation, your career, your finances, your safety and the safety of your loved ones, your colleagues and passer bys. Among the Left China’s massive government surveillance and social credit system is much admired, and they would love to implement it here.
Yes, citizen, Big Brother is watching. We know who you are and we know what’s going on with you. You must remember that you exist to serve the State and have no value beyond that and only those rights we give you that suit our convenience. If you do not serve the State your value is at an end, and so is your right to life, never mind liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As with all non Judaic or Christian religions, human sacrifice resolves the social discomfort. Conform or die.
This is why it is always and everywhere for Republicans and Conservatives to decline to fight the culture wars and look instead to narrow electoral issues is a strategic error. For the Left everything is political and has a political end. Every time we cede the cultural field to them we are making a choice to advance their cause thereby cutting our own throats and those of our descendants.
I confess that the President is making me awfully nervous. I can see that he’s making every conceivable effort to work with the Donks, offering every incentive to budget a few billion for the wall in order to open up the government again. He’s put a lot of things on the table that absolutely horrified me, a deal on DACA for one. But Nancy and the Destructocrats just wouldn’t have it. Now we have this weird three week stopgap measure to give these government workers their back pay and the Congress the opportunity to screw it up again.
Then there’s the State of the Union address. Nancy withdraws his invitation to enter Congress’ chambers to deliver the address to the nation. Now, granted, all the Constitution requires is that the President make an annual report to Congress. In the good old days before Woodrow Wilson’s presidency that was a written report he send over from the Oval Office, but since then it has become this grand circus. I’d be just as happy if it went back to being just exactly that. I’d rather just read it the next day and skip having to watch all those people grandstanding for the cameras.
Pelosi’s refusal of permission had nothing to do with the ability to provide security during the shutdown, she just didn’t want President Trump to make his case for the wall directly to the American people. Sure, the Dems get a rebuttal, but seriously, who watches the rebuttal? Nancy knows this. I was hoping that Trump would give the address directly from the Oval Office and bypass Congress entirely, let them watch it on TV just like the rest of us do. That way he doesn’t have to provide them with a written copy in advance and he can leave them gasping and floundering just as he did the last time he addressed the Nation.
Oh, and I just loved the way he cut short Nancy’s junket, sending the letter just as the bus to the Air Force base gets moving. What exquisite timing! And suggesting she fly commercial, makes me laugh even now. There were to be six or seven Congress critters on that flight, both Donk and RINO, and a total of 93 people on the flight, the difference being made up of family, friends and staff, all to be paid for by US taxpayers.
So now that Trump has at least temporarily caved, Nancy still won’t schedule the SOTU. My, my, isn’t she just in the catbird seat now? Whatever else she’s done she’s shown herself to be what we knew her to be all along, a nasty little bee eye tee cee aich. She’s flexing her muscles here, trying to play power games with the President, and everybody knows it is a power play, and thoroughly despicable and dishonorable.
Are you sure you want to do that, Nace? Seriously? Play power games with Trump? OK, then, but you’ve been warned.
Now we have this three week respite from shutdown mania and I’m nervous. I think Trump put too much on the table, undermining the argument for the wall by being willing to be so conciliatory. I’m hoping that in the meantime the Demoncrats get so ebullient over their “victory” in “forcing” Trump to cave that they will become even more stridently intransigent and let their radical leftist freak flag fly. They will concede nothing but on the contrary make even more outrageous demands. It is also likely that the Republicans, who never seem to get proactive about their agenda until there are enough Democrats to stop them, will give up the wall and a whole lot more.
What then? Ideally Trump vetoes the bill and we’re back to the shutdown. Ideally he gets it that there is no compromise with the Party of Destruction and pushes back hard, demanding more every time they won’t give him what he asks for. There is a danger in that though, a danger I feared prior to his election but which has been pretty well allayed since. The danger that he would become a man on a white horse, riding rough shod over the Constitution to save the Republic. Historically, and the Founders knew this, republics devolve into dictatorships.
A dictatorship is exactly what the Democrats want. Its what they’ve wanted since 1968. A totalitarian collectivist dictatorship with one their own as Dear Leader.
If Trump caves again his presidency will be eviscerated. And so will the country.
There has been much talk in the last couple of years of building a 300 ship navy. Truly a Navy that size would be a great asset to the nation and to the world. Not only would it help project American influence all over the globe but would insure freedom of navigation for the world’s maritime commerce. After all, 70% of the globe is covered by water, 80% of the world’s commerce is moved on water and 90% of the world’s population lives within 200 miles of the sea. A strong Navy makes sense.
The sad fact is that a truly capable fleet is at the very least ten years out if we as a nation decide to take the steps necessary to make the vision a reality. That is a mighty big IF. I don’t see a whole lot of realistic discussion of the issues, much less a growing public awareness of what the challenges are and demand for resolution. Without that commitment to rebuilding the foundations of a strong Navy any shipbuilding program will be too little too late and billions of dollars – and hundreds if not thousands of lives – wasted.
What are the challenges? I list these in order of importance as I see it.
At the height of the Cold War we had fourteen naval shipyards, today we have four. Some of those are over 90 years old and desperately need upgrading to manage the needs of our modern fleet. Ships are beasts for maintenance and must spend a considerable amount of time in shipyards just to keep them running. As things stand our ships and aircraft are poorly maintained and are a danger to the sailors who man them. It is a national crime to ask them to go in harms way with gravely deteriorated hulls, propulsion, sensors, navigation, weapons and airframes. Our naval shipyards simply can’t cope with the fleet we have, we need more shipyards. Civilian shipyards cannot be realistically tasked to maintain naval vessels, the nature of the equipment is just too different. We need to at least double our naval maintenance capabilities, and that will take time and lots, and I do mean LOTS, of money.
Poor leadership, inadequate training, crews run to exhaustion by operational tempo, faulty equipment, it is simply dreadful. Some that results from lack of maintenance, but the worst is the scandalous dereliction of senior and mid level leadership. The officer corps needs serious attention, as does crew training and discipline. These two ships are front line units and it can be safely inferred that the rot pervades the entire organization. This needs to be cleaned up before we can hope to man more ships with competent crews.
Two kinds of LCS
Zumwalt class destroyer
We need a new frigate class somewhere between the Littoral Combat Ship and the Arsenal Ship. Ship designs have tended to be expanded so that too much is packed in to make it more capable
Arleigh Burke class destroyer
until it becomes a sort of bloated floating Swiss Army
Ticonderoga class cruiser
knife that ultimately can’t perform any of its intended missions adequately. The above two ship types are prime examples of exactly that. The Arleigh Burke class destroyers and Ticonderoga class cruisers are getting long in the tooth and we don’t have an adequate replacement yet and won’t for years.
Meanwhile China has been busy. Their very efficient espionage service has long since penetrated our attempts at counter intelligence so that it can be reasonably expected that they know the details of every ship, aircraft, propulsion machinery, sensor platform and weapon system we’ve built or intended to build for the last 25 years. They have been building an increasingly effective navy with a good mix of new designs. They have been taking steps to secure their claim to everything from the Korean Peninsula to the Straits of Malacca as their national territorial waters including Taiwan. It is clear as they have watched our capabilities decline they have felt their star in the ascendant. And they are preparing for war.
